Cheers to the late Harriette Curley, a @DrakeUniversity grad hired at Perkins Elementary in @DMschools 75 years ago this fall. Bigoted parents protested. Administration supported her. She persevered, a successful career. 1st Black FT teacher since segregated DM schools of 1870s.

Harding died less than 3 years later (Aug. 2, 1923), when he had a heart attack in San Francisco.
A season later, in 1923, Ruth would hit 41 home runs and drive in 130 runs in his only MVP season, which ended with the #Yankees winning its first #WorldSeries.
