@20th_Centurygal Seger. Simple reason is that he worked the Midwest for years and did it his own way. The Midwest was his home and his workplace. He stayed true to those roots. Still lives in MI most of the year.
Mellencamp would be next and really would be a great choice also.

His writing is at such a high level that I have trouble picking one out. You could pick “Night Moves”, “Against the Wind”, etc., and I couldn’t argue any of them being better or worse.
