Falling asleep thinking about how absurd it is that ohio lost to Michigan AGAIN. I suppose it isn't out of the ordinary if it's routine? Never thought I would Tweet that. ESPECIALLY TODAY, HOLY SHIT.
One of those memorable days today. Out with the Kent County Road Commission's "Deer Sheriff" picking up carcasses after Kent was identified as the top county in MI for car-deer collisions. Yes, the blood steak is authentic and yes, I got my hands dirty. Tonight at 4 and 7!
Inside the Commission meeting now as part of a packed house. The main event being the public hearing on the Transformational Brownfield Plan for the Fulton and Market redevelopment project. I'll have a report on the hearing tonight on News 8 at 5 and 6.
Together West Michigan gathering in front of GR City Hall ahead of public hearing on the "3 Tower Project" proposed for Fulton and Market - asking for more contribution to the city's affordable housing fund as part of their proposed Transformational Brownfield Plan reimbursement.
Waking up today I had a legitmate thought that last night's win was a dream. 5 INTs, a second-half shutout and two of the closest kicks ever kicked?! I've seen a lot of exotic Lions losses, I've never seen a win like that. #OnePride
Traffic lights are out all over Northeast Grand Rapids, leading to a few crashes including this one at College and Cedar. Be careful navigating darkened intersections and treat those as a 4-way stop.
GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom confirms a deadly stabbing on Division this AM was a domestic violence incident. The alleged attacker is in critical condition from self-inflicted stab wounds. No disruption to the CC school day, and the road will likely remain closed for another 30 mins.
Division Ave is closed in GR from Bartlett to Goodrich - in front of GRCC - as police investigate a deadly stabbing. One adult woman is dead, and the male assailant also stabbed himself according to GRPD and an eye witness we spoke to. We expect to hear from the police chief soon
About 100 people left in line for same-day registration and voting at Devos Place in Grand Rapids. Poll workers say they had processed 650 votes when the doors closed at 8 p.m. I watched a few voters run through the doors to make the cut.
Mastodon bones are relatively common in MI (enough to name the Mammut americanum as the state's official fossil), but 80% complete mastodon skeletons are rare, everywhere. Researchers and the public museum are obviously excited - and hard at work.

Nerd alert! (It's me) The GR Public Museum and Research Casting International are scanning mammoth bones found in Kent City to learn about the animal's life and death 13,000 years ago, and eventually 3D print a recreated skeleton. Catch an inside look at their work tonight at 5/6
Hundreds now filing into Riverside Park in Grand Rapids for the Harris-Walz event this afternoon. We expect remarks sometime after 1 p.m. and have live coverage from inside and out coming up on News 8 at noon!
Governor's Gretchen Whitmer, Maura Healey and Kathy Hochul stop by The Stray on Grand Rapids' South side for a coffee and chat with swing state voters ahead of Vice President Harris' visit to the city later today.
