Barry Diller and Ben Sherwood’s @bensherwood Daily Beast goes too far, again.
These two continue to lower media standards to a pathetic level.
Everything they do is tabloid lies.
(They also own People, Better Homes & Garden and Southern Living)
Shame on you Barry and Ben.
This reparations push is straight hypocrisy dressed up as justice.
Look at the countries involved.
A couple in Africa, a couple Arab Muslim ones (Mauritania counts as both), and one in South America.
Most of them only got rid of slavery after heavy Western pressure, some not even that long ago. Mauritania was basically the last country on the planet to ban it in 1981, and it’s still an enforcement mess there.
But you don’t see African or Caribbean nations demanding money from other Africans who captured and sold their own people for centuries.
Or from the Arabs, who ran a slave trade that lasted way longer, moved millions across the Sahara and Indian Ocean, and routinely castrated male slaves so they couldn’t reproduce. That one gets a total pass.
Instead, the finger points only at the West, the one civilization that actually decided slavery was wrong, abolished it at home, and then spent blood and ships forcing the rest of the world to stop.
Britain’s navy patrolled the seas and lost men doing it. America lost over half a million lives in a civil war that ended it. Europe leaned on everyone else to follow.
Africans were enslaving Africans long before any European ship showed up. They lost wars, got captured, and got sold. Europeans just bought what was already on the market. The whole supply chain started with Africans selling Africans.
The only reason this “pay us” routine targets the West is because that’s where the money is. Everyone else is broke or doesn’t play the guilt game.
It’s resentment plus opportunity. Nothing deeper.
And this whole narrative likely didn’t start in Africa. It has the fingerprints of Western leftists and NGOs all over it, people who hate the West, cooked up the guilt trip in universities and activist circles, then found willing partners overseas to push it.
Follow the money and the talking points. You’ll see where it really came from.
Vance: “If you look at the story of how the deep state took down Richard Nixon, it’s not all that different from what the same groups of people, the same institutions tried to do to Donald Trump.”
Caitlin Clark is the best thing to bring the WNBA more money, more exposure and, unfortunately, more violence from the other thug punks on the floor with her who are jealous of her talent.
"an inheritance code"
Look out - Gavin is planning to abolish the step-up in basis inheritance rule that allows you to inherit a parent's house without being forced to sell and give him all your money.
All that boomer housing equity is about to be clawed out from under you by these communist dipshits
Congratulations! The rent is frozen.
So is your landlord's ability to fix your appliances or do any upgrades.
And when the conditions quickly deteriorate, Zohran will use it as a justification to seize private property.
Welcome to the 'warmth of collectivism,' New York.
Jayapal: “Across the country, Republicans who voted for Trump understand that this immigration agenda is not good for their communities."
Pramila Jayapal. Finger on the pulse of Trump voters.
Chairman Jim Eschenbaum confirmed that Senate Majority Leader Thune asked me not to attend this event.
Thank you for recording everything, James Bialota.
