I think the problem with JD Vance's Tucker Carlson answer is multifaceted. First, it sounds just like Abdul El-Sayed on Hasan Piker. At a time the GOP is crushing El-Sayed for his Piker defenses, El-Sayed can now just parrot the VP, literally quote the VP word for word.

Second, Vance gave a milquetoast endorsement of Rogers only a day after Carlson said he'd never vote for Rogers.

Third, Vance says that of course his friend Tucker says things Vance disagrees with. Okay. What?

Does he agree with Tucker on Israel? What about with Tucker on the Jews? What about Russia, Putin, Ukraine, Capitalism, etc. etc. etc.

Now the press gets to probe what the disagreements are. That just drags it all out, just like El-Sayed and Piker.

But, don't expect a lot of that. It's a pretty open secret in DC that the VP is one of the people who, with his staff, spends a lot of time as on background sources for reporters. Reporters don't want to lose that access.

No one cares who the VP fishes with. That's not remotely the question, and he knows it.

He said back in December 2025: "I find the idea that Tucker Carlson … that his views are somehow completely anathema to conservatism, that he has no place in the conservative movement, is frankly absurd. And I don’t think anybody actually believes it."

So, the real question is that: does the VP still think that? If so, why? Why, precisely, are Tucker Carlson's views -- El-Sayed as "America First," Trump as anti-Christ , feudalism as superior to our current system, propagandizing on behalf of shariah law and Russia, anti-Semitic conspiracism, etc. -- a part of the conservative movement?
