Love him or hate him, but Zverev deserves HUGE respect for staying fit while his younger rivals have struggled all year.
A guy who has suffered from type 1 diabetes and taken daily injections his entire life.
Physically, he has stood the tallest. That's why he's the champion.
You all laughed and celebrated when he suffered a potential career ending injury back in 2022.
You all laughed and celebrated when he lost Grand Slam final after Grand Slam final.
You all laughed at every time he said he still believed he could win a Grand Slam.
Then when he won Roland Garros and you all retreated to abusing him constantly.
Then he backed it up with a US Open title and you all became even more toxic with the abuse.
But at the end of the day Alexander Zverev had the last laugh and is the one celebrating.
Complete legend.
It's actually quite sad.
Alexander Zverev:
- Was diagnosed as diabetic at age 4
- Lost a Grand Slam final with one of the biggest chokes in sporting history back in 2020
- Suffered a possible career ending injury in 2022
- Was told by almost everyone he would never win a Grand Slam
And despite all this came back in 2026 to win two Grand Slams in Roland Garros and the US Open.
Yet there are so many people out there who are too busy attacking him over domestic abuse claims that were never proven.
Credit where it's due, it has to be one of the best comeback and prove your haters wrong stories of all time.
McEnroe has to go. Carlos is healthy and he played, It’s not Zverev’s fault that Janniks knee doesn’t work. It’s his moment and he won fair and square…
This is honestly pathetic from McEnroe and he has to go…
Sorry, this should be the final straw for John McEnroe
Unprofessional, belittling the sport and stealing the spotlight from the champion and runner up seconds after victory.
Alexander Zverev:
4th player in the Open Era to win his first two Slams in the same season
2nd German to win the US Open in men's singles in the Open Era
Dayana Yastremska’s apartment in Odesa was destroyed by a Russian missile.
The only thing that survived was a Roland Garros towel.
“Tonight.
This is what the ‘Russian world’ looks like, A direct hit by a Kalibr cruise missile.
A Russian missile destroyed our apartment in Odesa.
The only thing that survived was a Roland Garros towel.
SYMBOLIC.
A piece of world tennis survived a Russian missile.
Our home did not.
WTA & ITF, Look at these images through our eyes.
This is the true meaning of your ‘neutrality’ - from the Ukrainian side of the court. 🇺🇦”
