That was maybe the biggest issue for me at Kentucky.
Should have had a GM plan with two people working together solely on portal plan since November.
One does initial evals and other works on relationships with all the agents.
For 15 years you had almost absolute confidence that Kentucky could beat any program, anywhere, for any recruit. Just two years later it's "believe it when I see it."
You can't overpay for Chandler but his 41% three-point shooting will need to be replaced and he made several winning plays late in games for Kentucky. Pope needs to load up the backcourt with talent with several open spots to fill. Give us some booms.
Folks can call me spoiled or an ungrateful fan all they want. That’s fine. But it doesn’t change the fact that every single UK men’s hoops coach that got at least 3 seasons went to the Elite 8 and won 69% of his games.
That’s facts. That’s 80+ years of hoops history.
These are the games right here that everyone has a problem with Pope with. A game against a team, regardless of injuries isn’t better than you. Get a double digit lead and coach and play your way into getting your ass kicked. It is not the wins and losses it’s how they happen and this CAN NOT happen at Kentucky! Absolutely freaking disgusting and embarrassing
The case for Kentucky Basketball having a GM is very simple
1. College BB is a business and you need someone understanding and handling that business daily
2. Virtually every good program in the country has one except us
The prosecution rests
So I’m really confused. Recruiting experts say Kentucky won’t pay Stokes. We overpaid for backup guys. Why wouldn’t you pay for a sure fire star? If we don’t get a GM we are done.
I think a lot of Kentucky fans struggle with Pope’s philosophy about balancing minutes to manage fatigue b/c we played guys for 40 straight minutes for a decade+ and BOY did that work.
Speaking of, Darius Acuff is currently pushing 50 points in 50 minutes on the court for Arky.
This is a really bad loss for Kentucky. Just can’t lose games like this at home
With the schedule they have ahead, it also puts the possibility of not making the Tournament back in play
What are we doing? Pope's team are just incapable of burying a team early. He'd rather tinker with the lineup than let his best players cook. Shit gets fckn old.
