It’s frustrating to see headlines about a “nursing shortage” while newly qualified nurses struggle to find jobs. The reality is the problem isn’t a lack of people willing to work, it’s how the system is set up. Many of the so-called vacancies aren’t fully funded or are tied to specific roles and locations, and trusts often prioritise experienced staff because they don’t have the capacity to train large numbers of graduates at once. Add in budget pressures and recruitment freezes, and you end up with this contradiction where the NHS clearly needs more nurses, yet some who’ve just qualified can’t get a foot in the door. It shows the issue is deeper than just numbers, it’s about funding, planning, and support for new staff.
Lowe’s PAC appointment isn’t some secret plot, it’s standard Commons procedure. Parties fill their allocated committee seats and sometimes pick independents. The Public Accounts Committee exists to scrutinise government spending, not defend it. If anything, an independent has more incentive to be outspoken, not less.
@Experiment31649@TheBarakaShow Well, it’s kind of irrelevant anyway, views like that aren’t going anywhere politically. No party pushing that sort of idea is getting into power, so laws and citizenship rules aren’t going to be rewritten along those lines.
