@ewanbirney I couldn’t agree more, this is relentless. Something close to my heart and I take a lot of wisdom from your arguments (with appropriate credit & reference, of course) when I talk about this. Thank you once again.
(Another) great thread from @ewanbirney Thank you for your continued efforts to remind and educate everyone…
Recommended read for everyone, experts and novice alike.👇🏼
It is a dark, drizzly december sunday in London and I've just read yet another depressing thread of someone reaching for genetics to justify racism and superiority to themselves. It is deeply wrong, but such a recurrent thread worth both dismantling+ understanding the attraction
Thank you @VancityReynolds for being such a champion & your continued support. Also a shout out to my colleague and friend @DrDevSK for appearing in the video - who knew he had such great acting skills 😁

This trend shows the increased interest & momentum around rare diseases & there is still significant work needed for rare disease drug development. Those with rare diseases are faced with exorbitant drug costs to treat their conditions and are often unable to meet these costs.
More than half of novel drug approvals are for orphan drugs. This has shifted tremendously in the last few years; showing the increased interest and momentum around rare diseases. An important trend to unpack and leverage. Thanks @UofPenn Anne Parisier. @GenomeCanada
Saddened to hear the passing of @LouBernatchez
I had the privilege of working with Louis on several projects including the sequencing of the American Eel and the Lake Trout. The world of #genomics has lost an absolute gem. #RiP@LavalUniversity
@notSoJunkDNA I am already there, with a bunch of other friends and colleagues. I don’t have any invites left but can ask others if you need one. “Sky is the limit”.

Proud and humbled to have provided leadership to this important CDN initiative. It’s truly a team effort - thank you to all the #HostSeq team, the broader research community & our supporters @GenomeCanada@InnovationCA@ISED_CA
Output from #HostSeq will not only have impact on how we respond to future pandemics, it will also play a critical role in supporting CDN scientist studying many human genetic diseases. Thank you to all involved & to all supporters of the project. @GenomeCanada@InnovationCA
