UPDATE ON THE DOG OWNERS!!!
Two dogs didn’t just die it was three Irish Setters roasted to death in a hot car while their owners went to play golf. A fourth was barely alive and needed emergency vet care.
Sarah Sharkey pleaded guilty in September 2025 at St Albans Magistrates’ Court to four counts of causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals.
Her punishment?
A 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and £85 in costs.
No fine. No prison. No ban on keeping animals.
Magistrates said she had been a “responsible dog owner for many years” and were confident it wouldn’t happen again.
What sort of justice is this?
Three dogs suffered and died because someone chose golf over their lives on a hot day. The car became an oven. They trusted their humans. And the punishment is basically a slap on the wrist with no restriction on ever doing it again.
What kind of deterrent is this? What message does it send that dogs’ lives are cheap when it’s inconvenient?
This isn’t justice. This is why people lose faith when animals suffer and the consequences feel like nothing.
If leaving dogs to die in a hot car doesn’t warrant a ban from keeping animals, what does?

🚨 Hero at Belstone FC 🚨
Massive respect to Mitchel Swain, who stepped up when it mattered most after an official collapsed twice during the match.
Not only did Mitchel react instantly to help, but he also brought his real-life training into action, as a firefighter, his calmness and quick thinking helped save a life.
Moments like this remind us that football is about far more than the result. The non-league community always looks after its own.
👏 An incredible act of bravery. Well done, Mitchel a true hero.
Let’s give him the recognition he deserves.

“My dad was very poorly with leukemia, but what kept him going was watching his grandkids play football. He never missed a match if he could help it. Rain, wind, or cold — he’d be there on the sidelines, cheering them on.
When he became too weak to stand for long or sit out in the weather, we bought him a little pop-up tent so he could still be there, tucked up and warm, watching them play. It meant the world to him — and to us — that he could keep doing what he loved for as long as possible.”
