As part of the World Environment Day 2026 celebrations under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign and in the spirit of Mission LiFE, a Tree Plantation Drive Around Wetlands was organised on 15th July 2026 at Utrapat Wetland, Nambol Naorem, Bishnupur District.
Organised in collaboration with Wetland Mitras and the Utrapat Fishing-cum-Pisciculture Cooperative Society Ltd., the programme brought together women, Wetland Mitras, cooperative society members, and local youth to plant saplings along the wetland periphery, reinforcing a shared commitment to conserving Manipur's wetlands.
Every tree planted is a tribute to Mother Earth and an investment in a greener future.

Launching of “Uningthou Uyok” by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur
Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh today launched "Uningthou Uyok" at the SEEDS Campus, Olympian Park. The programme was organized by SEEDS in collaboration with the Editors Guild, Manipur and the Department of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur.
As part of the initiative, 150 saplings of Uningthou (Phoebe hainesiana), the State Tree of Manipur, were planted across one acre to strengthen efforts towards ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation.
The event was attended by Hon'ble MLA Shri Sorokhaibam Rajen Singh, Shri Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh (DC, Imphal West), Director, Department of Environment & Climate Change, Heads of Departments, members of SEEDS and Editors Guild, and senior officers from the Police and CRPF.
The "Ghat Par Yoga & Meditation" programme was organised at four locations along the Nambul River by community groups, local committees and organisation with the support of the Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Manipur under the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
Awareness Programme & Quiz Competition on Mission LiFE: Save Energy successfully organised at Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal on 11 June 2026 as part of the World Environment Day 2026 celebrations.
The programme organised by EIACP Hub, Manipur, Department of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur in collaboration with the IPR Cell and Department of Geology focused on promoting energy conservation, renewable energy awareness and sustainable lifestyles among students.
With active participation from 75 students and faculty members, the event reinforced the message that small everyday actions can create a significant positive impact on the environment.

On the eve of World Environment Day 2026, the initiative commenced with the plantation of 100 fruit-bearing saplings around Yaralpat Wetland.

Joint Survey Team, including the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) Unit of the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur, successfully conducted the Social Impact Assessment for land acquisition related to Single Line Broad Gauge Tunnel No. 12 (Tupul–Imphal section) under the Jiribam–Imphal New Railway Line Project of Northeast Frontier Railway. During the field visit at 69-Kangdabi under Salam SDC Circle, Lamsang Sub-Division, the team undertook detailed survey and demarcation of the proposed acquisition area, covering Tunnel No. 12 from Ch. 105840.00 to Ch. 115391.00 along with Adit-1 and Adit-2. Key activities included verification of land measurements and boundary details with revenue and railway officials, scrutiny of ownership records of affected pattadars, and identification of families likely to be displaced or impacted. The SIA Unit assessed structures, houses, trees, crops, fisheries, and other immovable assets within the notified area, and collected socio-economic data required for preparation of the mandatory Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Scheme under the RFCTLARR Act, 2013. Consultations were also held with affected landowners and local residents to ensure a participatory and transparent process. A Pre-Event Campaign in connection with World Environment Day 2026 was organised on 27th May 2026 at Top Dusara Village, Imphal East, by EIACP Hub Manipur, Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with Top Dusara Yaral VLF. The campaign was conducted in alignment with the United Nations theme for World Environment Day 2026, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, and the Mission LiFE theme assigned by the Ministry, “Save Energy”.
The event comprised an awareness campaign on the assigned theme and cleanliness activities, which included removal of roadside debris and collection of Single Use Plastics from the Panchayat area. Printed posters on the theme of World Environment Day 2026 were distributed to all participants. About 100 participants, including Self Help Group members, Village Level Federation members from Top Dusara Village, local club members, and women from the community, actively took part in the campaign, making it a success
An interactive workshop was held on 12th May 2026 between M/s. RSP Green Development and Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Manipur, State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC), Manipur with the nodal officers of line departments and district administration on preparation of District Survey Reports for 6 (six) districts of Manipur.
