My Special Address on “Future Trajectory of Science & Technology and its Impact on National Security” at National Defence College, New Delhi.
Key Takeaways:
"India’s future security architecture will be powered by AI, Quantum Technologies, Biotechnology and Space capabilities, as warfare increasingly shifts from conventional combat to technology-driven strategic operations.
Future military systems will increasingly rely on autonomous platforms, intelligent surveillance, predictive analytics, cognitive warfare capabilities and hyper-fast decision-making mechanisms. AI and Machine Learning will fundamentally transform military training, logistics, operational planning and threat assessment, enabling faster and more accurate responses in dynamic security environments.
Technological advancements are transforming every dimension of national security, making scientific innovation an indispensable component of strategic preparedness. Therefore, there is a need for deeper integration of civilian innovation with military requirements, as also extensive synergy between public and private sectors, including the Defence #StartUps.
The good news is that over the last one decade, after the Defence sector gained priority under PM @narendramodi, there is a steady shift from dependence on imported defence systems towards greater self-reliance and indigenous innovation. Defence production has increased by nearly 174 percent since 2014, reaching approximately ₹1.54 lakh crore, while defence exports have expanded nearly 34-fold to more than ₹23,000 crore".
My Special Address at the National Defence College was followed by a candid interactive discussion with senior officers and course participants on emerging technologies, innovation-led warfare strategies and the evolving challenges confronting geo-political scenario and national security in the 21st century.
The session concluded with a humble acknowledgement by me that the nation remains eternally indebted to its soldiers not only for safeguarding the country during times of conflict but also for their invaluable service during disaster situations, emergencies and humanitarian crises. The unseen peace-time contributions of the Armed Forces exemplify the true spirit of service and sacrifice.
