BIMSTEC Energy Centre (BEC) organised a 5 day Capacity Building Programme on “New & Emerging Technologies in Power Sector (Generation, Transmission, Distribution & End Use)” from 14 to 18 Sept 2026 in Bengaluru in hybrid mode under the aegis of Ministry of Power, Govt of India.
The programme was inaugurated on 14 September 2026 by Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, ED, BEC & Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), along with Shri Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary (Transmission), Ministry of Power.

Discussions focused on cooperation in energy efficiency, low-emission technologies and offshore exploration under Samudra Manthan. Shri Manohar Lal invited greater participation of Canadian companies in India’s expanding Exploration & Production sector and emerging energy technologies.
Shri Manohar Lal reiterated India’s commitment to a balanced and future-ready energy strategy based on diversification of energy sources, reliable baseload capacity, clean energy expansion and adoption of emerging technologies. He emphasised that India would continue to strengthen international partnerships towards ensuring secure, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy.
