Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm
For anyone out there who thinks they aren’t good enough, think again. You’re always gonna be better than good enough!
15 years & 5 degrees later I’m now:
Dr. Dubem Obianagha, DO, MPH, MBA

Hey #MedTwitter! My name is Evans Osuji, an M4 from @OhioStateMed applying into #InternalMedicine for the #Match2024 cycle.
I’m passionate about health equity, advocacy, mentorship, and preventive care.
Looking forward to connecting with mentors and colleagues!
For context, an hourly employee who gets a ¢50/hr pay raise and works 40 hours a week for 52 weeks in a year makes $1040. This is more than a resident who works 60-100hours/week
I’d like to get into the minds and reasoning of GME programs who give their residents a 1k pay raise per year in this economy knowing fully well that the rate of inflation is higher than that. So glad my GME recognizes that and rewards us for the work that we do. #MedTwitter 1/2
@maddiejanssen14 Madisen it’s a tough one coz for me I get that a lot too. I’ve taken a different spin to it, replying with a big smile and taking that as a compliment while reassuring them that I am fully qualified physician. I grow out my beard too to add a couple more years to my look too🙊🤣
@MaxJordan_N I think this tweet is harmful for young physicians. AMA is a medical and a legal term that justifies a physician letting a patient leave when there is a medically necessary reason to remain hospitalized. Let’s be guided here please!
@KayeMcdougall But we use a lot of possessives in our profession which honestly doesn’t necessarily mean to belittle juniors. Like we use “my patient”, “my senior” and “my attending” with so much ease. While I understand ur viewpoint, I don’t necessarily think it all comes with malicious intent
If SCJs vote along party lines with most issues that come to their desk. Is it safe to say that we can predict the verdict of any case? If so, why exactly do we have the #SCOTUS if we can’t guarantee verdicts based on the law of the land but on party affiliations?#MakeItMakeSense
@Kamali_Thompson I agree but that doesn’t make it wrong either, you know? As weird as it feels for them to call me Dr. Obianagha, if that’s what some folks want, I can’t be mad at it either
@Kamali_Thompson I’m so confused. As opposed to what exactly? Aren’t they doctors? If that’s how a resident wants to be referred to or addressed it is well within their rights. Until he/she tells you otherwise, please refer to them as Dr. Last name.
As we approach Med school graduation, here’s a friendly reminder
“Never use both the degree and the title together (Dr. John Jones, D.O/M.D.). Some titles may precede the name as long as they don't convey the same meaning as the degree that follows”
I’ve been guilty of this 🙋🏾♂️
Post Match Pro tip:
If you matched in a big city, you should be securing housing by now. Believe me, most of the housing close of your medical center are already filling up a wait list coz it’s going that fast. And people are paying 2-5k upfront. Hop on if you haven’t already.
3 take aways from every Matchday:
1. Your dreams are never too big. Be strategic and calculated.
2. “You’re a great fit”, “we love/want you in our program”, “the PD said I was exceptional” is not a guarantee. Until Matchday, the chances are 50/50 at best.
3. Mentorship is 🔑.
To the new Interns, no matter what anyone says, remember that you’re a QUALIFIED doctor. Stay humble & open to criticism. You’ll make mistakes. Ask questions & be willing to learn.
So proud of everyone of you.
Now come get this floor pager and do these admissions. I’m out ✌🏾🤣
