International students and researchers are facing deep uncertainty as U.S. policies disrupt their lives and careers. From arrests to visa revocations and processing delays, many are feeling both threatened and targeted. Read what CEO Jonathan Bagger has to say about these concerns:
At APS, we share your alarm about the policies impacting international scientists. We believe science is a shared human endeavor based on integrity, transparency, and reciprocity — values that transcend borders. We are inspired by the more than a million international students who are still advancing their careers at U.S. institutions, but we appreciate that not everyone feels safe to do so. We want you to know that no matter where you are located, APS is here to support your career, amplify your voice, and share your discoveries — because physics includes us all.
As others look to close doors, we are fighting to keep them open. We will continue to offer greater global participation in our meetings, expand access to our journals, and champion your science. We will also continue to fight for policies that support the science community by meeting with lawmakers to encourage fair visa policies, filing legal briefs to defend those facing unjust visa revocation, and encouraging robust federal science budgets.
Global challenges will be solved through the exchange of ideas across cultures, continents, and communities. When any part of our global scientific community is sidelined, we all lose. APS remains committed to building a future where everyone can contribute. We believe that the future of physics is global, and that no matter where you are, we are here for you.
Needed a slide to introduce my quantum research to incoming physics students. Fed a recent paper into co-pilot. Here’s the result. (Seems influenced by Bosch) #AI#quantum
Time to celebrate! Editor-in-Chief Ortwin Hess commemorates the journal's first anniversary! 🥳
