Mr. Patrick Ezaga (@EzagaP): “As part of the preservation of nature initiative, we have delivered 500 tree seedlings to @SorotiUniversi1 for planting in accordance with the landscaping masterplan of the institution.
The trees we plant today are an investment for the future. There is a common African saying that “If you want to sit under a shade in your old age, plant a tree now."
We therefore encourage the University community, especially the Students Guild, to nurture and protect them so that they can continue to benefit generations of students to come”.

DPF Director Communications: Think of a granary. Farmers don’t store all their grain in one hut - they pool it into a well-guarded granary, so if one farmer’s harvest fails, the community granary still has enough to go around.
Deposit insurance works the same way. Banks pool contributions into the Deposit Protection Fund, so if one bank fails, depositors don’t lose everything - the “granary” is there to cushion the shock.
That’s the role DPF plays for Uganda’s financial system: safeguarding depositors’ “harvest,” one shilling at a time.

DPF Director Communications: "Deposit protection is not only a matter for bankers, regulators and financial experts. It concerns everyone who saves money with a financial institution.
As young people preparing to enter the world of work, business and leadership, understanding how the financial system works and the protections available to depositors is important."

The licences were presented during a ceremony held at the Bank of Uganda on Thursday, 6 August 2026, by Mr Mackay Aomu, Director, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, on behalf of the Executive Director, Supervision and Regulation.
