Two markers of American freedom.
June 13, 1776, 250 years ago today: The Continental Congress selects five members for the Committee of War and Ordnance.
June 13, 2026: Trump's name comes down from the Kennedy Center.
"The UFC event captures something about this moment in our history.
After all, it’s vulgar, it’s violent, it’s commercial, it’s grandiose, it’s tacky, and it dishonors a place once thought worthy of care and respect. In other words, it’s Donald Trump."

Housing First does not work because it's not meant to help get someone on a pathway to self-sufficiency. It's a Democrat grift that makes people in the homeless industrial complex wealthy but homeless people remain handicapped by their mental illness or drug addiction.
Applebaum: What binds Russia, China, Iran and North Korea is not religion or ideology.
China is communist, Russia nationalist, Iran theocratic. What binds them is fear of liberal language: rights, rule of law, separation of powers and independent courts. 1/
“If it were up to me, the age of adulthood would never have been lowered from 21 to 18. It would have been raised to 30. In recent decades, people have been taking longer and longer to mature—and increasing numbers never make it.”
— Thomas Sowell
Last night we had a choice to vote on the side of good or evil. It was a Churchill moment and the House sided with freedom. House leadership says they’re pro-Ukraine but that this bill had flaws. We’ve waited 18 months and they’ve done nothing. I look forward to the Speaker submitting a better bill. If he’s serious. I was tired of the excuses…history is being written and it will be a dark chapter if we don’t help Ukraine win.

On the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, we remember and honor victims of repression in China. Pastor Ezra Jin is currently in prison for peacefully practicing his Christian faith. The international community must stand up for freedom of religion in China. #FreePastorJin #FreeEzraJin @GraceJDrexel@CNZion
37 years ago today, the Chinese government brutally crushed peaceful protesters in and around Tiananmen Square who were demanding an end to corruption, freedom of speech, and democratic reform. The massacre revealed a truth the world should never forget: the Chinese Communist Party will do whatever it takes to preserve its grip on power. If it did not value the lives of its own citizens, why would it value the lives of others?
We, on both ends of political spectrum, have come to the point that beating the other side and having our side win are THE only important factors. This subordinates individual policies, character, values and governing to winning. This is not sustainable.
I really miss this kind of America.
Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford ran against each other in 1976.
When Ford passed away, Carter gave the eulogy at his funeral.
When Carter passed away, Ford’s son Steve spoke at Carter’s funeral.
Barack Obama and John McCain ran against each other in 2008.
When McCain passed away, Obama gave the eulogy at his funeral.
They disagreed. They debated. They fought hard for what they believed in.
But at the end of the day, they still saw each other as human beings. As Americans.
That is the part we have lost.
Somewhere along the way, disagreement turned into hatred. Politics turned into teams. And people forgot that respect does not mean you agree with someone on everything.
I still believe we can get back to this.
Not because it will be easy. Not because everyone will suddenly think the same.
But because America is supposed to be better than this.
Bipartisan respect used to be possible.
And someday, I pray we remember how to do it again. 🇺🇸💙
Here’s the deal. Biden botched the withdrawal, but the withdrawal was forced on him by Trump.
We built an Afghan military that relied on US contractors, then we pulled the contractors, air support, logistics, etc.
And we didn’t even include the govt in negotiations
