Sharing some personal news (a thread):
It has been my absolute honor to serve low-income immigrant communities for two+ decades and alongside @NILC’s + @NILCJusticeFund’s current & former staff & board. I will miss the organization and my colleagues greatly.
Voting rights are the cornerstone of our democracy. We are disappointed in today’s SCOTUS decision upholding ballot restrictions that disproportionately burden Black, Latino and Native American voters. For a healthy democracy to flourish, we must have free and fair elections.

Yeah ... gun violence is also a public health problem. And thanks to @Health_Affairs and @vikbakhru we now can see the extent to which it disproportionately affects children of color.
Because of course it does.
It's National Best Friends Day! We want our young boys to cherish their friendships. Studies have shown that our friendships improve our overall health!

Thank you! I would be nowhere without the women whose footsteps I dance in. While reciting my poem, I wore a ring with a caged bird—a gift from @Oprah for the occasion , to symbolize Maya Angelou, a previous inaugural poet. Here’s to the women who have climbed my hills before.

Incarcerated people at CA's largest prison are entering their 3rd week of a hunger strike to draw attention to the institution's failure to protect the incarcerated from #COVID19.
There is no excuse for inhumane and unsafe conditions in our prisons. https://t.co/wOVQTAW1tp
