The SC/ST Act is not draconian; it is, at most, a mild response to the far more draconian system of caste and untouchability and the centuries of discrimination it has inflicted. OBCs, too, have been victims of caste-based discrimination and should therefore be brought within its protective framework. ▪️Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has made the disbursal process simpler, faster and more transparent by transferring scholarship assistance directly into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries

▪️During 2025–26, ₹30.81 crore was released to SC and OBC students under these scholarship schemes in East Godavari district
