Immigrant teacher in Canada π¨π¦ | From PR struggles to classroom reality | Sharing what no one tells you | Helping teachers & newcomers settle smarter
Teacher like me dy drive motor and its not even a big deal, I dy chop wetyn I want even cutting down on some food now cos pot belly don dy phone me π.
I worked in an international school in Nigeria and if I want to buy a standing fan, I know how long I have to save to get that done with my 6 digit that most teachers weren't even getting at that time.
Na you know wetyn you dy find sha, its worth it if you know how to cut your coat according to your size.
No I dont think thats shameful, whats more shameful is that the people at the helms of affairs when this was done even after wasting billions of tax payers money are still there comfortably. They have faced zero scrutiny neither have they lost their position.
Thats exactly why Nigeria is where it is today, mediocrity is okay.
@Igharehon@choihung17@Toshohenry@Onsogbu I dont think its safe and fair that you have your daughter on your timeline and you get into arguments with random people on Twitter. The world right now is very unfriendly and volatile.
I won't say more than that but she has a right too.
What are you trying to prove posting his little girl for God sake. What kind of argument make people lose their humanity.
Bro if you do this to me, we go enter something deep o. You guys are arguing, dont bring an innocent child into it, thats very insensitive and you called her an imbecile because you disagree with her dad.
Unbelievable!
@40PlusImmigrant Nothing vex me reach that referral thing when I first came, I'm like how's this different from the Naija way, no wonder we ve so many I's fixed up in most places. Naija community, we shd do better too.
π¨π¦ "God When?" (Canada Edition): NEPAπ³π¬ vs. CRAπ¨π¦
Nigeria will prepare you for many things, but the sheer shock of Canadian bills, or the sudden joy of a random government alert hitting your account without warning, needs to be studied.
Some people here, especially from my job, are checking their banking apps, because of the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit dropping this Friday, June 5:
The CRA took the standard GST/HST top-up, gave it a fancy new name, and added a 50% booster shot to help cushion the blow of day-to-day survival.π Though people still feel it is a trap!
Over 12 million low- and modest-income Canadians are getting this automatic payment via direct deposit (or a cheque in the mail if you still love paper).
Single (No kids): Up to $267, Couples (Married/Common-law): Up to $349, With 1 Kid: Up to $441, and With 4 Kids: Up to $717.
If you qualified for the January 2026 GST/HST credit, this drops into your account automatically. No links, no applications.
In Nigeriaπ³π¬, when the grid collapses, and NEPA takes light, the government leaves you in darkness to count your losses. In π¨π¦Canada, when inflation turns the grocery store into a horror movie, the CRA unexpectedly drops a casual $300 into your account to buy eggs and bread.
Different countries, different kinds of shock & vibes!
@40PlusImmigrant I'm keeping a vigil waiting for my money to drop π. I know I don't have to but I just want to see the sara money dancing inside my account lol
Wow! What an incredible performance from Edmonton's Acro Crew! Congratulations on your Golden Buzzer! Alberta is cheering you on every step of the way. ππ
The current structure of Nigeria is one that only thrives on love and trust that we don't have for ourselves, the federal system we are running is one that cannot work effectively no matter the leader and their intentions.
Advanced countries like Canada and others aren't using such a system where the federal wields so much power even though they have a stronger democracy.
Let's start from there first or we will just keep shouting of how terrible the present government is because they will make the former look like child's play but they are all trying their best.
This system doesnt suit us and the values we currently hold.
Change the direction of this agitation or we will still be here in 2030 shouting the same thing regardless of who the president is.
