the plum rootstock is throwing up runners from the ground
In my field where the apricot trees died there are masses of plum runner’s coming up as the rootstock is hardy and always outlives the tree variety grafted onto it

Apricots are usually grafted to plum rootstock, so those small red fruits are plums that have come off of growth from the rootstock
