The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Subordinate Legislation, during its study tour to Gulmarg and Srinagar from 09–14 October 2026, interacted with senior officials of DRDO, HAL, BEL, MIDHANI and BDL on 09 October 2026.
During the interaction, Dr Mayank Dwivedi, OS & DG (HR), DRDO, briefed the Hon’ble Members of the Committee on the rules, regulations and legal framework governing DRDO, as well as the mechanisms for implementation of its schemes and programmes.

The Committee on Government Assurances, Lok Sabha, took up assurance on Cyber Warfare and interacted with senior officials from the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, BEL and DRDO on 6 October 2026 at Bangaram Island, Lakshadweep.
Discussions focused on strengthening India’s cyber preparedness and addressing emerging challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies in the evolving security landscape.

Maiden flight trial of Advanced High-Altitude Parachute (AHAP) was successfully carried out at one of the highest-altitude drop zones, Nyoma (Mudh DZ).
AHAP is a static line parachute system for mass drop of paratroopers and designed and developed by ADRDE, Agra.

High Altitude Platform System (HAPS), a long-endurance stratospheric aerial surveillance platform designed and developed by ADRDE, Agra was successfully flight tested.
The experimental flight attained an altitude of 21 km above mean mean level (AMSL) and remained at an altitude of 20 km AMSL for more than 30 minutes, while carrying useful instrumentation systems, before it was commanded to descend back to ground. The system was successfully recovered and flight performance data was analyzed.
DRDO is showcasing indigenously developed advanced systems and technologies designed to address the evolving requirements of modern warfare at #LandForces2026, being held in Perth, Australia, from 06–08 October 2026, as part of the India Pavilion.
The showcase reflects India’s growing capabilities in advanced defence technology and indigenous innovation, contributing to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

A distinguished scientist and visionary leader, Dr Palle Rama Rao made invaluable contributions to Defence R&D, Indian science & technology and nation-building. His enduring legacy will always be remembered with deep respect.
Dr Palle Rama Rao also served as Director of DRDO’s premier laboratory, Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), before his appointment as Secretary, DST.

Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, today laid the foundation stone for the SONAR Engineering Assembly, Test & Evaluation Center (SEATEC) at the SAROVAR Campus of NPOL, Kochi, in the presence of Dr. Balamuralikrishnan R, DG (NS&M), Dr. Ravindra Singh, DG (R&M), Dr. Duvvuri Seshagiri, Director NPOL and Dr. Bishwajeet Choubey, Director DCWE.
The SEATEC facility will feature an underwater simulation channel and state-of-the-art machinery and equipment for the development, assembly, testing and evaluation of advanced SONAR and underwater surveillance systems. The facility will strengthen indigenous capabilities in underwater technology, enhance Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) and contribute to India’s maritime security.

Celebrating #AyurvedaDay a special program was organised by DIPAS, DRDO at Metcalfe House, New Delhi on the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow”, highlighting the relevance of Ayurveda and traditional Indian knowledge systems in promoting holistic health, preventive healthcare and overall well-being.
The programme was graced by Dr. Upendra Singh, DS & DG (SSS) as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Ravindra Singh, OS & DG (R&M), DRDO attended as the Guest of Honour. During the event, Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Senior Research Officer, CCRAS – Central Ayurveda Research Institute, New Delhi, delivered a special talk on “Fundamentals of Ayurveda: Synonymous to Healthy Life”
The programme brought together the domains of modern defence science and Ayurveda, with discussions focusing on the potential of traditional knowledge and holistic approaches in promoting healthy lifestyles and enhancing well-being. The importance of preventive healthcare, balanced living and greater awareness of India's rich Ayurvedic heritage was also highlighted.
The Ministry of Defence today signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Ltd, Hyderabad, to procure the Satellite-Guided Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon system for its Jaguar and LCA fighter aircraft. Indigenously designed and developed by RCI, DRDO, this weapon system features high accuracy and is capable of hitting airfield targets deep inside enemy territory.

Ministry of Defence has inked a contract with @bharat_dynamics for the procurement of 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW) along with associated equipment for Indian Air Force (IAF) with a total cost of Rs 810.79 crore under Buy (Indian - Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category. The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi on September 23, 2026.

SAIL supplied DMR 249A defence-grade steel plates for INS Kiltan, an indigenous Project 28 ASW stealth corvette. The warship-grade steel was developed by SAIL in collaboration with Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad.
