Last night, I travelled to Delhi and stayed in a hotel so that I could reach the protest site early this morning and witness the events firsthand.

I managed to reach Connaught Place on time, but despite my efforts, I could not make it to Jantar Mantar because of extensive barricading and heavy police deployment.

What I witnessed at Connaught Place was deeply disturbing.

Bus after bus, young protesters were detained. Even journalists were detained. The manner in which people were taken away was, in my view, brutal, excessive, and deeply troubling.

For a moment, it felt as though I was witnessing democracy itself being pushed to the brink.

But let us not be in denial about what happened today. We witnessed the overwhelming might of the State brought to bear upon the very youth who represent the hopes, aspirations, and future of this country.

The scenes I witnessed today will remain etched in my memory for a long time.

And yet, one thing must be remembered: A movement is not defined by a single day. Its spirit cannot be measured by the number of people detained, nor does its story end with a crackdown.

@Cockroachisback will rise again.
This is not the end of the story.

And ultimately, it is not the might of the State, but the supremacy of the Constitution of India that must prevail.
