It was a pleasure serving on the host committee for @KenPaxtonTX as we welcomed him to Lubbock. Ken Paxton has my full and complete support. Ken knows the important role Texas plays in ensuring our Country stays true to its founding principles; and, I trust him to fight for our State, its culture and our way of life. #OnePartyOneMission #txlege
The State of Texas is stepping up where some local prosecutors are failing to protect the public.
For too long, Texans in certain communities have faced the dangerous consequences of prosecutorial decisions that put repeat offenders back on our streets.
Enough is enough.
Today, I joined Governor @GregAbbott_TX and Lt. Gov. @DanPatrick in demanding greater accountability and oversight of local prosecutorial decision-making. When chronic repeat offenders go free and innocent Texans are killed, the public deserves answers.
Strengthening public safety at the local level will be a top priority for the 90th Legislative Session. The House’s work starts on September 30, when the Select Committee on Governmental Oversight will hold a public hearing to ask tough questions, follow the facts and identify solutions for next session.
I want to thank Governor Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick and our legislative colleagues for their continued focus on keeping Texans safe. #txlege
Unbelievable. Why did the DA dismiss this case? Why was this documented murderer and gang member let back onto our streets?
These are the kinds of questions the House Governmental Oversight Select Committee will be asking on September 30.
Enough is enough. #txlege
Roblox refused to testify and defend itself at today’s State Affairs committee hearing. One must assume it’s because what is happening on their platform is indefensible. . .
"When you turn a blind eye to the small stuff, it eventually leads to the big stuff. We have an epidemic around the state and across the nation of weak on crime, soft on crime, district attorneys who are basically culpable” — Robert Leonard, CLEAT
The life of Andrew James Wimsatt was senselessly taken far too soon. The stories of his friends paint a picture of a dutiful and loving son, an upstanding Texan, and an all-around fun and kind soul.
Texans deserve answers about why his murderer was left on our streets after multiple arrests. Families should not live in fear of another savage, random attack because local officials refuse to enforce the law and protect the public.
I created the Texas House’s Governmental Oversight Select Committee to investigate failures like these over prosecutorial integrity. We will demand answers and expose officials who put ideology ahead of public safety.
The committee will meet on Wednesday, September 30 with my full support of searching until the truth comes out.
Texas will not look the other way. Criminals will face justice, and public officials who fail to keep Texans safe will answer for it. #txlege
The Lone Star State’s arrival is a major victory for Texas A&M and the Gulf Coast.
For years, I fought on the Senate Commerce Committee to secure a permanent training ship for Texas A&M, including legislation that doubled federal authorization for the program.
This state-of-the-art vessel will train up to 600 cadets and strengthen America’s maritime workforce and disaster response.
Government-owned airports cannot favor one religion over all others.
DFW plans to install Islamic wudu washing facilities are illegal. I've directed a review of all state grants to both airports for possible revocation, and referred DFW & IAH to USDOT for investigation.
Texas will not allow illegal religious discrimination at taxpayer-funded facilities.
Gov. Abbott today met with @SecAFOfficial Troy Meink, @TXSpaceComm Chair Gwen Griffin, State Rep. @DrGregBonnen & @USSpaceForce Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, to discuss how Texas can continue supporting Air Force bases, grow military missions, and boost readiness & efficiency.
The time for Republican infighting is over. The only fight that matters is the one ahead.
Today, I addressed the @TexasGOP Convention with delegates, grassroots leaders, party advocates, and conservatives from every corner of our state to deliver a message I believe is critical to the future of our movement.
I knew I might receive a mixed reception, but the stakes are too high to stay silent.
A bruising primary season is behind us. Now, our focus must be on November. Republicans have delivered historic victories for Texas, but our job is not finished. To keep Texas on the right track, we must come together, rally behind our nominees, and support the Republican ticket from top to bottom.
We are one party with one mission. Together, let’s defend our conservative values and keep Texas red.
The @TexasTribune asked me for a comment about a House member calling for a hearing on the New World Screwworm, and here’s what I told them:
I have been working with Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary Brooke Rollins, Commissioner Sid Miller, the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, the cattle industry, and wildlife groups to help make every tool available to address the New World Screwworm. The House has held hearings, made this an interim charge, and will hold more hearings as necessary to help. As election season approaches, I am glad to see more House members begin to recognize the importance of the cattle and beef industry to Texas.
On this day in 1961, Alan Shepard made history aboard Freedom 7, becoming the first American to travel into space and proving what’s possible when our nation sets its sights higher.
That 15-minute flight didn’t just mark a milestone for NASA, it helped launch a new era of American leadership in space, paving the way for achievements like Apollo 11 Moon Landing and beyond.
Today, that same spirit of innovation is alive and well right here in Texas. From our world-class aerospace workforce to the leadership of the Texas Space Commission, we are building the future of space exploration and keeping America at the forefront of discovery.
Texas isn’t just part of the story. We’re writing the next chapter.
Protecting Texas children is one of the most serious responsibilities of lawmakers, and we will treat it that way—especially in an increasingly digital world.
After recently speaking with Rep. @donfortexas, I was alerted to a graphic, first-person shooter game on the online platform Roblox recreating the tragedy at Robb Elementary and targeting young users. That alone is indefensible. But it’s not an outlier—it reflects a broader failure to prevent violent, explicit, and predatory content from reaching children.
Today, I issued an additional interim charge directing the House Committee on State Affairs to take a hard look at these failures and hold platforms like Roblox accountable—focusing on content moderation, age verification, and prevention of exploitation and predatory contact between minors and adults.
When nearly 40 percent of Roblox’s 144 million daily users are under 13, there must be zero tolerance for weak safeguards and indifferent oversight. Platforms that allow content glorifying real-world violence are putting children at risk.
The Texas House will not look the other way while companies aimed at children permit—and profit from—this kind of environment. Accountability is coming, and we will be ready to act.
I am grateful to Rep. McLaughlin for raising awareness of this issue, and to Chairman @KingForTexas and the State Affairs committee for taking this on and working toward better protections for our next generation.
Houston received more than $100 million from the state based on a written agreement that they will comply with immigration enforcement.
If they refuse to comply, they better get out their check book.
It will be costly if they refuse to keep their streets safe.
More great photos from the exciting return of the Artemis II crew. It was an unforgettable welcome home at Ellington Field.
Spending time with them before the press conference, one thing was clear — this crew is deeply bonded and truly cares about one another. That kind of trust and teamwork is what made this mission such a success.
Grateful to join Jared Isaacman and Vanessa Wyche in celebrating this moment and recognizing the incredible work of the entire team behind Artemis II.
American exceptionalism is alive and well, and it’s leading the next chapter of space exploration. Welcome home.
Home, again! Mission complete. I hope we glorified God, humanity, our families and our terrific teams a @NASA and @csa_asc. Time to share the good news!
