Joe Budden said he doesn't love Kendrick's song on Jhené Aiko's album, even though it's hard.
When asked why, he said it's because of the topic of that song , specifically the "you look so good" part that Kendrick and Jhené are singing about , and that it doesn't fit what he's checking for when it comes to the theme of the album.
He still admitted "Kendrick did his damn thing on it," even calling it the single. The rest of the cast, said they're fucking with it.
Album Review for Let God Sort Em Out By The Clipse
The long awaited album is finally here. While folks attention may have been divided on other projects, let’s be real, this was what everyone was truly focusing on. This album is exactly what hip hop needed at the moment and is a prime example of skill and talent shining over formulaic microwave music.
We all know what Pusha T can do. Yes, there’s a subtle hit to that dime bag of coke from ‘92, but it’s exactly what you need, bars, amazing flow and just amazing storytelling. Malice came back and literally went nuts on every track. Him being so opposite of Pusha really brings out a different sound and it meshes so well together. The features, my god… Tyler, The Creator might’ve just given us the verse of the year. Nas… crazy. Stove God Cooks and that hook, bananas. There wasn’t a single moment where you felts the raps were not up to par.
Production was CRAZY. Pharrell was absolutely in his bag. The melodies, the bass kicks, the beat switches, the way the beats were layered so it fits both Clipse and whoever was the feature for that particular track. The cohesion really stands out because it doesn’t feel like there’s not a single wasted beat. (Initially, we didn’t have the original “So Be It” beat but that got fixed)
The album from front to back, has NO SKIPS! None! There isn’t a single wasted vocal note, drum kicks and no throwaway bars. Everything fits and meshes well, so to be honest as of now, I can honestly see and respect if people call this their album of the year because it’s that good.
