With Gavin’s withdrawal as a candidate the presidential election should be postponed. Possibly do so by appointing a retired judge for a period or two months or thereabouts (if constitutionally necessary as Higgins is timed out). Reopen the nominations process and hold the election in December or January.
For all those that say ‘but you can’t’, remember they tried to cancel a presidential election not many years ago and just hand a second term to a sitting president without an election (which has happened before). I expect it might be possible.

A relative of mine literally has a court date for not paying the TV licence fee because they hate RTÉ, never watch it and refuse to pay for it. You'll literally go to jail if you don't fund certain media in this country.
