Dana Smith and Deborah Tubbs successfully completed their Fund for Teachers Fellowship. They were able to visit 3 programs for the deaf in London, tour National Institute for Young Deaf in Paris and attend AB Bell’s Global Symposium for Listening and Spoken Language in Madrid.
Deborah and Dana from Plano Regional Day School Programme for the Deaf in Texas came to visit the school last week to learn about inclusion in deaf education in England.
@andreaintrees@deafeddebbie We are a Regional Day School Program for the Deaf housed within a public elementary school. My colleague and I both teach oral deaf ed classrooms. We are touring oral programs in London to observe strategies for successful mainstreaming and social/communicationadvocacy skills.
Super excited with my teaching friend to have been awarded a Fund for Teachers Fellowship grant to tour schools for the deaf in Europe!! Chance of a lifetime!

Never thought a childhood toy would be such a hit in my own classroom. For years my students have enjoyed playing Simon. It not only improves their memory skills, but also promotes a little healthy competition when they beat my score!😀

Having a student with deaf/blindness means we all get to learn something new. My student and the VI teacher gave us a presentation on Braille. We used baseballs and donut holes for the 6 dots. That’s making learning meaningful!

#ReadTheory has proved to be a dynamic tech center for my ELA class. Setting a class goal for the collection of “Knowledge Points” motivates while increasing their reading comprehension skills. Genius program!
