In celebration of its republication by @CRC_MathStats, we are giving away a signed copy of this classic textbook by Casella and Berger. Just like, repost, and follow me by Thursday 15th August to be in with a chance of winning! Enjoy and learn! #Statistics#DataScience#JSM2024
look what I've found (something in preparation).
I like the emphasis on Statistics:

Pay attention: Big data loses to good data. “A survey of 250,000 respondents can produce an estimate of the population mean that is no more accurate than an estimate from a simple random sample of size 10… data quality matters more than data quantity” https://t.co/TDNMfeRyWh

@markvdloo @IAOS_Stat @DiegoKuonen @HeidiBaya I fully support this view. IMHO, the future of official statistical production, if any, must follow this path. Thx, Mark.
🔥Announcement🔥
@MartijnTennekes and I are working on a book!
It describes how to make elegant and informative maps with the {tmap} package.
You can find the current draft at https://t.co/xtqj7aoOJz.

-Sancho Panza team: our leader eats a banana through his left ear.
Banana peeled. The leader savors the banana in his mouth.

-Audience: 🤔
Do your estimates/predictions rigorously carry the appropriate metadata? Accuracy indicators e.g.? (4/4)
Awe-producing competition:
-I. Newton team: we shoot a bullet with a rifle from Trinity College in Cambridge to a 20mm x 5mm target in London and make a perfect hit.
Bullet shot. Hit missed by around 5 cm.
-Audience: 😲 (1/4)
-A. Einstein team: we aim a laser beam at a mirror in Saturn and hit the exact centre of the mirror.
Laser beam shot. Centre missed by around 5 cm.

Production of (official) statistics ≠ Data Management ≠ Use of (official) statistics
IMHO, neither in academia nor in data-related industry nor in statistical offices this distinction is explicitly formulated. And it should be.
