Look at all the medications in this tiny portion of a gastric biopsy. The drugs present tell us that the patient has renal disease. Of course, microcrystalline cellulose is just pill filler. Kayexalate reduces hyperkalemia and Renvela reduces hyperphosphatemia. #UMiamiPath

I'm immensely grateful to @Vijuananthan & @KMirza (both formerly @loyolapathology) & Dr. Tamara Kalir @MountSinai_Path for giving me- a random, unknown person with no background in the US- a chance to do observership/elective with them. That year (2019), I sent ~100 customized email requests for observerships. I don't count that as a struggle, it is a process. But why does the process have to be so hard, more so for DO Medical Students, IMGs, & students from smaller schools with no pathology programs internally?
