In 1971, @Philips commissioned Syd Mead to envision a transportation system built around illumination. In this proposal, a specialized hauler carries high-powered lighting units and liquid helium tanks that inflate mirrored balloons suspended above a stadium. Light is projected upward from the vehicle and redirected by laser-controlled reflection, bathing the arena in a precisely engineered glow. Mead sharpens the drama through contrast, setting intense beams against deep shadow so that light becomes both subject and structure.

From Science of Creature Design by Terryl
WhitlatchWhat is creature design? We all have a notion—mostly consisting of evocative images of otherworldly beings galloping, swimming, flying, and often attacking the hero of an epic film or story. But what makes a creature believable?
Terryl shares valuable techniques reaped from years working for Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Feature Animation, and on such films as Jumanji, Brother Bear, and The Polar Express.
From ABAKAN 2301 by Kallamity
Weingart Lieutenant Richard Mertzbow (aka “Mertz”) has been stuck on the mysterious Abakan Base for decades, while war raged on his home planet, Terra, between the ruling Weingart power, and those rebelling against their oppressive rule.
The sequel is an exciting exploration of mecha, narrated by the compelling, but strained voice of Mertz as he navigates a world he does not recognize, alongside Kallamity's, which shares his own complicated adventures in executing his mecha designs.
