Excellent breakdown from David Friedberg on how a collapsing dollar leads to the rise of socialism
"If you own assets as the dollar devalues and everything inflates in value, our asset prices go up. We get wealthier and wealthier. The majority of Americans do not own assets. They are net asset negative
As a result, they live off of income, and they do not benefit from the de-dollarization like asset holders do. And this is what is ultimately fueling populism in the US."
Early specialization is overrated. Generalists excel over time.
Data on >34k stars in sports, music, science, and chess: Focusing on a single field predicts a faster rise, but cross-training foreshadows a higher peak.
The most successful adults start off as well-rounded kids.
Like many others, been saying it for years.
Anyone who discourages your child from playing multiple sports does not have your child’s best interests in mind.
Period.

@Dodavprincessen@fuckyouiquit@LuigiCaseFiles The question was ‘why don’t they record all the time,’ not about policy. I agree,no excuse for a BWC to be turned off on arrival or any time during involvement. You make a good point about funds… if PDs weren’t paying MILLIONS of $ in settlements, they could be better funded.
@AndrewW45837485@fuckyouiquit@LuigiCaseFiles Storage is more expensive than you’d think… at least the end-user cost. Footage is only reviewed in important cases, but ALL footage is stored. Now take an 8/10/12 hour shift worth of video, multiplied by the number of officers… massive file sizes and tons of them.
@fuckyouiquit@LuigiCaseFiles The real answer is storage. If they recorded 24/7, the department would amass such a hefty bill it would make body cams unfeasible for a majority of departments. Alternatively, if you DID record 24/7, you’d then need to hire another admin to constantly review/keep/delete footage.
The Why Not You Foundation, founded by Ciara and Russell Wilson, announced a $3 million philanthropic gift to NYC’s Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. The gift will support patient and family programs and facilities within the Kravis Children’s Hospital and will ultimately name the Child Life Zone Theater and the Play Space in the Jack Martin Fund Inpatient Unit for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disease.
Q: Was Zac Taylor's message to the team any different today, than a typical Monday?
Jordan Battle:
"No comment. Team meeting."
Zac Taylor:
"You'd have to ask the players that, I guess."
