DTLA has the most residents (90K) and highest percentage of residential buildings of any Downtown in CA. And we want and need more neighbors! Love seeing this from our Downtown champions in Sac like @MattHaneySF@AsmMarkGonzalez@AsmSadeElhawary and @cayimby
Shout out to my friends at Related.
Another one coming out of the ground in DTLA’s Social District.
Excited for more housing and the growing community in the @lasocialdist
SF passed a fair share law that disrupts longstanding patterns of segregation and concentrating acute need and poverty in SOMA / Tenderloin bc of their disproportionate share of supportive housing and shelter beds. Downtown LA needs the exact same passed for the same reasons.
Super energized after the DTLA Alliance’s 2026 Trends & Outlook breakfast featuring the @DTLA_RA supported Path to Progress, the Dataland Museum, exciting updates on Olympics and World Cup plans, and a new vision for Downtown collaboration on public safety from @cd14losangeles.
Anarchy as a form of welfare policy is such a good way to describe the state of CA urban cores. It’s a regressive choice bc it hurts our most vulnerable people the most. Who can’t just move away or choose to avoid a specific neighborhood? Most often the folks who have the least.
Thanks @rogervincent@latimes for exploring an SF model, Vacant to Vibrant that DTLA residents, community orgs and businesses alike want to see replicated to accelerate our economic recovery. We don’t have to recreate the wheel! Let’s make it happen. @MayorOfLA@cd14losangeles
Los Angeles was built on the backs of the (at the time) world's largest electric rail network. Which was so impressive Meiji-era Japanese came, studied and copied it back home, becoming the Japanese urban railways we know & love today. Oh and then LA demolished their network.
HUGE news for DTLA — guarantee you this is in no small part motivated by the city’s commitment to invest in the convention center.
Take note: when you say you care about your city and make investments in its betterment, the market notices and investments will follow.
Good news @LAist — after signaling $100M in funds for 2 long-standing, community informed street projects in Boyle Heights and Skid Row would be forfeited and returned to the state, @cd14losangeles@YsabelJuradoLA will now pursue an extension. No brainer! https://t.co/XEXNTD79O7
Spoiler alert — the future of DTLA is and has to be residential. That also means clean, vibrant and safe. @dtla_ra fights for this future every day. “Downtowns are dying, but we know how to save them” via @latimes @joelkotkin https://t.co/sbnLYPPW1x
Like many Angelenos, I’m outraged and appalled by bad actors who have vandalized and harmed our Downtown L.A. neighborhood.
That’s why we are coming together this weekend to beautify and restore our neighborhood.

@LexStepp LA is a on average a very working class town of really hardworking, thoughtful, caring, creative people who deserve more from their local government than they get and we figure out how to take care of ourselves as a result.
LA relief centers were inundated with donations over the weekend and are in desperate need of volunteers to sort and deliver things during the week. If you are safe & have a flexible schedule or can take PTO, now's the time. Consider volunteering w @YMCALA in DTLA at 401 S. Hope
