He wrinkled up his nose. Dee didn't like having to admit to learning difficulties of any kind -- especially when the thing he was struggling to grasp was something Glam had acknowledged time and time again.

He was still so angry and he resented himself for it.

He needed to put it aside, as he always did, tuck it away in a neat little box and be there for his family. Because that was how this was supposed to work.

But every time he saw the remains of the guitar being lapped +

He should be able to UNDERSTAND those basic concepts and put them into practice. But he couldn't. And that was that. Dee crouched down to sit in the grass, facing the flame. He couldn't help the glint of lingering satisfaction in his eye.

What could he say? He liked fire.

Sitting by his window sill, it was practically taunting him. He figured if he burned the damn thing he could finally forget about it and move on. Turning on his heel with his head hanging low, Dee slouched into himself.

"It's not about you."

"Yeah... I know."

He replied blankly, letting the crackle of the fire fill in the silence he'd fallen into. Dee just didn't want to look at that shitty guitar anymore.

"I just don't understand /why/." Was it him? Did Dee not feel safe talking to him? He'd given him no reason to feel that way, surely.

"I mean, you know you can talk to me, don't you?" He may not practice what he preaches, but at the very least, he'd always encouraged his +

Beating Glam to the punch, Dee interjected -- "And yeah. I know already. Not the way to deal with my anger. You don't gotta say it again."

Not quite ready to just drop it since his dad was so hellbent on prolonging the conversation -- they might as well get this over with. Flexing his hand in and out of a fist, Dee shook his head.

"I was JUST. . ." his voice cracked on the word, breaking into a simple,

"Angry."

" I don't understand why you'd . . . " Dee's question seemed to go entirely unacknowledged, Glam's focus too fixed on the flames to register his son's voice.

" Why would you ever deem THIS necessary? " Was he really so angry? So resentful?

The teen gave pause, cutting his eyes to the side in annoyance. What Glam /actually/ wanted him to do was getting impossible to follow. Were they talking or was he leaving? May as well ask.

"What happened to going to my room?"

Glam fell silent, allowing Dee to turn away before finally mustering something in the way of a response,

"I didn't raise you to act out like this." His gaze didn't leave the fire, confusion washing over his features.

"You don't get your way and think this is appropriate?"

"You won't need to."

With a deep inhale, he shoved his hands into his pockets -- Kicking off on one boot, Dee took a broad step forward. The teen took a glance behind himself at the fire and to Glam, staring behind a dangling strand of hair.

Dee huffed before turning to leave.

[𝐆𝐋𝐀𝐌 ! @HORROR_TERIA]

"Well, it's unacceptable and it stops now!" He hissed in turn, taking a small step closer to emphasise his point.

"I didn't raise you to have such . . . Disrespect for the things you own. I don't know what could possess you to do such a thing!"

[ He's sitting with his shoulders raised and back slouched to as to better shield his phone as he scrolls. He comes to a pause. Dee snorts lightly and saves the image before returning to his scrolling. ]

[ The image in question? This one. ]

Through gritted teeth, Dee hissed, "I /know/ it's not. But it's what I'm doing."

Regret buried itself into his anger. He didn't mean that. Not really. But he'd said it, and he was still too pissed to tell Glam otherwise.

Dee slouched, combing his fingers through the front of his hair. He harshly wound a few locks around them. Tight enough to pull.

"Perhaps if you'd taken the TIME to learn, you'd — "

Dee's last words were enough to make Glam physically recoil, staring in disbelief and almost fear at the prospect.

"I don't . . . " His voice dropped abruptly. The shift was perhaps more whiplash inducing then the initial +

"Just tell me you like the guitar more than me. I'm going to my room."

[𝗗𝗘𝗘 . @DXRKPRINCEDEE]

"I played it correctly!" he snapped. A couple more strands of hair fell out from his pony tail and into his face. Dee's hand lifted to try to flatten them back down to no avail.

The last thing he'd wanted was for Dee to argue back. Glam's teeth were gritted harshly together, staring down at his son in frustration in dismay.

"It was still an instrument, and one you should treat with respect! It's not /fair/ of you to take out your frustrations +

"I played it -- EXACTLY how you told me to play it," he grasped at the air, his jaw muscle twitching as it strained. "Even still. It was never clean."

Dee pursed his lips and let out a growled sigh.

"I don't get what's so special about /that/ crappy guitar. It's not like it's your Gibson."

The shock wore off, and instead of stomping off to his room to wait for what would be a nauseating conversation -- Dee wouldn't budge from his place in the yard. With the burning guitar glowing behind him, he looked to Glam bewildered,

"My /room/?"

There was no calming Glam now, and the prospect of Dee talking back to him was frustrating him more and more —

Is what he'd thought, until that apology had left his lips.

It was enough for Glam to recoil slightly, his impossibly wide eyes now betraying an anxiety +

"Sorry," His hands were raised as though he were a thief being caught red-handed.

Dee turned around on his heel, arm whipping out behind him. His mouth opened in preparation to make a rebuttal -- by his dad's own admission, he could do anything with the guitar. And "anything" encompasses burning it.

Instead, he winced at the sound of Glam's voice.

It wasn't something he never would've used again. The guitar was cheap, worse for wear, and he'd never really been a fan of playing on an acoustic, anyway.

That did not excuse Dee's behaviour. Not one bit.
