We are committing $45.6 million in additional education funding for K-12 technology improvements, community college workforce development programs, rural broadband initiatives, and other priorities in every jurisdiction in Maryland: https://t.co/HLaZrDnJ7Q
Was pleased to lead another productive infrastructure summit today as chair of the @NatlGovsAssoc. While COVID-19 has certainly dominated our focus in recent months, we haven’t lost sight of the importance of modern infrastructure to support jobs & quality of life as we recover.
The nation’s governors—on both sides of the aisle—are calling for more investment in infrastructure, which can help put people back to work immediately and improve our long-term economic recovery. @NatlGovsAssoc
Maryland has now conducted 463,507 #COVID19 tests, including 11,541 in the last 24 hours. The statewide positivity rate is 7.25%. Total current hospitalizations have declined to 902, their lowest level in over 9 weeks, with 544 acute care beds and 358 ICU beds currently in use.
Since we announced the creation of CovidCONNECT, an online forum for recovered #COVID19 patients, over 1,600 participants have registered. This platform allows users to share their stories and access resources, including information about clinical trials & virtual support groups.
IMPORTANT UNEMPLOYMENT UPDATE: Tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, @MD_Labor is launching a new one-stop unemployment insurance application to allow all Marylanders to file claims for all regular benefits and CARES Act benefits entirely online. https://t.co/khxsPqeZ17
Lack of testing is probably the number one problem in America and has been since the beginning of the #COVID19 crisis. As I said today on @CNNSotu, every governor has been fighting to get more tests from the federal government, from private labs, and from all across the world.
@GovLarryHogan Great job Governor Hogan. I am grateful for all of your hard work for the people of Maryland and your leadership speaks volumes. Hogan for President 2024!
@GovLarryHogan Thank for the data. It helps to see the number of tests that had a negative as well as recovery. It paints a clearer picture. I appreciate your leadership. You and your team are doing a great job. I hope you run for President!
Beginning today, we are posting #COVID19 cases by ZIP code on https://t.co/Shy9A0ubl9. We are being as proactive as anyone in the country on this so that Marylanders can better understand the spread of this deadly virus.
As chairman of the @NatlGovAssoc, today I issued the following statement with vice chair @NYGovCuomo to urge federal leaders to provide immediate fiscal relief for the states.

@T_Inglesby I don't see how a society could ask health care workers to risk their lives and their family's lives if the society doesn't step up to do its part as in social distancing, etc.
But we need to press ahead for now w closed schools, mass
telecommuting, no gatherings, strong advisory to stay home unless you need to
go out – all are needed to slow this epidemic. 23/x
In last 24 hrs there've been prominent US voices calling for a stop to social distancing, citing rationale that they're worse than impact of COVID itself. It’s worth looking very closely at that claim, where we are in US COVID epidemic and what happens if we stop. 1/x

It’s the first day of school in Brownsburg and Miss Nicki fixed up the ceiling of her BCSC bus over the summer to greet the students on the way to their seats. 💜 #BCSCback19#BCSCvillage
