Don’t yell at a catcher because he was unable to block a fastball… pick, block, use a body part whatever you gotta do. Just don’t assume you can block a fastball. It’s not a catchers fault. Don’t ever not try.

@615Vol @coachlos9 I am not saying a catcher shouldn’t attempt lol. Of course they are there to stop the ball but it’s not there fault and should not be yelled at for a fastball. Maybe a pitcher, should locate a fastball better.

@615Vol @coachlos9 Absolutely but it’s not there fault. Catchers have a better chance to pick a ball, which is not considered blocking. Maybe a catcher has a better chance if they “cheat” by sitting on a bent knee with a leg extending, to give them a chance.

@615Vol @coachlos9 Correct. You should block off speed. Being expected to block a fastball is a hope. Specially when a pitcher is 85+. Your reaction time is close to none to drop to both knees, more less move from right to left. That’s why the pros would throw a glove or attempt to block.
