@shegone03@Pudge_Rodriguez@MLB@RVGDag@TheKineticArm@AMBS_Kernan@SalMarinello@wg22659 What was the average runners speed in the 80s/90s compared to today? Gurantee it was allot slower based on everything else is extremely faster. Think of the new pick off rules and pitch clock. Then bases are bigger and include replay. How much do you think that decrease there %.
@McSonicRoll@TheCatchingGuy@JimVaughn_@coachlos9 You’re right. Catchers should all try. 100%. Like the original post. Don’t yell at a catcher because he was unable to block a fastball… pick, block, use a body part whatever you gotta do. Just don’t assume you can block a fastball. It’s not a catchers fault. Don’t ever not try.
@Brennan_Font16@coachlos9 Don’t tell this to an old school coach, that don’t allow a knee on the ground or picking behind the plate. Guess they don’t watch some of the best in the pros catch lol 🤷🏻♂️ pick fastballs and block anything else.
@615Vol@coachlos9 I am not saying a catcher shouldn’t attempt lol. Of course they are there to stop the ball but it’s not there fault and should not be yelled at for a fastball. Maybe a pitcher, should locate a fastball better.
@615Vol@coachlos9 Absolutely but it’s not there fault. Catchers have a better chance to pick a ball, which is not considered blocking. Maybe a catcher has a better chance if they “cheat” by sitting on a bent knee with a leg extending, to give them a chance.
@615Vol@coachlos9 Correct. You should block off speed. Being expected to block a fastball is a hope. Specially when a pitcher is 85+. Your reaction time is close to none to drop to both knees, more less move from right to left. That’s why the pros would throw a glove or attempt to block.
@jvenegas05 It’s about time the cardinals did something. Besides goldy this is the only other big player we ever got in the past 10-15 years lol. That we went after. Also don’t worry every time we trade a prospect they turn out good lol.
