Can we start teaching Nigerian children how to measure distance properly?

In the UK, Europe, Canada or US, someone tells you a place is 5km away, and you know exactly what that means.

In Nigeria, our units of measurement are “just here,” “near near,” “small trek,” and the legendary “you will soon reach.”

Nobody knows whether that means 200 metres or 10 kilometres!

A society that struggles to understand distance will struggle with spatial planning, mapping, infrastructure and development.

I and my friend booked an Indrive to a location, we were on our way when the police stopped us, n.b: It was not on an highway.

They searched the driver's car and also told myself and my friend to come down, they search us from head to toe, checked our wallets. We were let go.
