The rumour spreading says the naira will be cancelled in 2027 and replaced by a new currency called the ECO.

Here’s the truth: the ECO is real, and 2027 is a genuine target date West African countries are working toward. But nobody; not the CBN, not the Federal Government, has said the naira is ending.

The ECO can’t replace the naira until Nigeria meets strict economic conditions it hasn’t met yet. That’s why this same currency has been delayed since 2003.

Your naira is safe. Always check the source before you panic.

This is a thank-you to the Lagos State Government for stepping in to address the issue of aggressive street begging in Lagos State. At least, the government has taken a step by arresting hoodlums and clearing the streets of Lagos.

But while we commend that, my question is: what happens to these people after the arrest?

Are we just going to throw them in prison and leave them there? Why not rehabilitate them, give them skills and put them to work—whether in factories, farms, or other productive sectors?

Let them become productive to themselves and to the state, so they don’t eventually return to the streets and become worse than they were before.

Arrest is not enough. We need a sustainable solution.

The Kano State Government organising a mass wedding for 1,500 couples with a budget of ₦1.5 billion raises a serious question: what is the plan for the children these couples will eventually have, especially when the North is already struggling with a huge out-of-school population?

If we already have millions of Nigerian children out of school, why are we not prioritising education, skills and human capital development?

We must think beyond today. Children who are left out of school become vulnerable to exploitation, crime, banditry and terrorism.

Northern Nigerians need to speak up. We cannot continue ignoring this ticking time bomb.

A group of bandits has been reported to have emerged from Sangeko Gap in Zamfara and reached Makuku town in Kebbi State. Security forces, including the army and mobile police, are presently engaged in intense combat with the bandits. Meanwhile, local residents have commenced evacuation. The bandits' horde is estimated to be around 240 strong, operating in three groups, and riding motorcycles. A Nigerian fintech company (Kudiwave), says PalmPay removed ₦750 million from its account without permission.

PalmPay’s response: they didn’t steal it; they were following a court order to move the funds to the police.

The twist? Both left the same courtroom on June 29 with completely different versions of what the judge actually ordered.

So, you mean to tell me there is no division at the top? When it is time to grab power, when it is time to embezzle, and when it is time to do things that do not favour Nigerians, the bigger elephants are united at the top.

The reason I’m saying this is because of this recent statement by Hope Uzodinma, telling Davido that he should get ready to employ his uncle.

But when election comes, ordinary citizens who are not even well-to-do will start telling one another, “Go back to your state. You are Igbo, you can’t vote here.”

Nigerians, wake up! We have one common enemy, and that common enemy is bad leadership—not our tribe or religion.
