One of the craziest and weirdest storms of my Floridian life. This thing didn’t “gust” it was just on or off like a hair dryer. Took a walk, I see many downed trees, damaged houses, damaged cars… Not looking great. Currently me and the rest of my neighbors are stranded. The foundation of the main exit has been obliterated. I think it’s only a matter of time before the road cracks from a heavy car. I was able to get past, but then you can’t get much further past that by car. Flooded main roads and huge downed trees. No viable exits atm. Looks like I’m stuck home for the next few days at least. God bless, if that’s the worst of it. I hope everyone else is alright!

I saw What is a Woman a few days ago & then I saw Am I a Racist today. Over all, I think What is a Woman was pretty mid. A few chuckle moments and intrigues. But, Am I a Racist was actually hilarious. I gave myself a headache laughing so hard. But the film is definitely NOT for everyone and may even just narrowly miss the mark of being fully effective.

I didn’t care too much for What is a Woman. It felt like a political documentary. Sparks of charm but mostly just stale political jargon that I know most people don’t care for. Matt Walsh’s personality in most scenes wasn’t inviting enough to appear sincere. I found myself admitting internally that I would probably be stand-offish toward Matt too. And I agree more with Matt Walsh than the people he interviewed.

Am I a Racist, by contrast, plays as a social satire more than a political documentary. It crosses that line from being stuffy and stodgy political, to being genuinely entertaining. But this movie is NOT Borat. Borat can be funny for everyone because of its absurdity and vagueness. Am I a Racist will not and cannot be as accessible. The first 30 minutes sets the tone that we’re just going to be making fun of Woke folks. It’s funny to me, but I can’t imagine it will change any minds. And will likely only affirm what people may assume about Matt Walsh being genuine. Which is a damn shame because the rest of the film is so brilliantly sincere. Instead of Daily Wire host Matt Walsh battling another Leftist, it’s a genuine, albeit over the top, attempt to reflect the woke ideology. The comedy comes from the absurdity that is, a Conservative talk show host literally just putting on a wig, getting a certificate in the mail, and suddenly the Woke just opens up and is stumped by its own internal inconsistencies. It’s all just asking questions. Am I a Racist does not contain any offensive jokes, aside from one that was only brought up as an example of a racist joke. But the movie is pretty damning in its’ conclusion for how broken the “Woke” system of Race Politics is. Very effective in a few scenes, and it wasn’t because of any arguments or even any disagreements per se. Just Master level harmless trolling. The best kind.

Am I a Racist had me, and the moderately packed theater I was in, dying of laughter. GG Daily Wire and Matt Walsh.
