National service hmmm 🤔 how about more funding in schools to provide a more comprehensive careers structure and bring back work experience. How about taking away the financial barriers for students and funding social sector degrees leading to teachers, nurses ect? #gobsmaked
As a career changer into teaching. It would be good if there was more information available regarding this route. Especially regarding the salary. Potentially taking the next step on my journey through OU with a degree. The thought of 6 years and £20k+ debt is daunting!
This government’s reforms mean that nearly 70% of occupations are now available via an apprenticeship.
And today, we're going further - introducing a degree apprenticeship for teaching.
I can't wait to see the next generation of teachers benefitting from this brilliant route.
Thank you @CrownWoodPS for a wonderful leavers assembly 🥲 Daniel was very emotional on coming home. This last year has been life changing for him growing in confidence. I cannot thank you all enough especially Ms Lewis and Mr Tillman who have really helped him grow thank you
@Hayo_luke Agreed it’s not always great when they do not respond. However I have found over time with consistency they do and the majority greet me too. Which is really nice. Keep going 😊
@Hayo_luke Not only are you modelling courtesy you are able to use the time to set the expectations “good morning, please take your seat, books out and make a start on the memory recall questions”. Our school has been doing it for a while and it has had a huge positive impact on behaviour
@JoelBeeney@NEUnion It’s all a little confusing. The GOV. Calculator suggests UQTs also get 6.5% however it is not mentioned anywhere or shown in the NEU pay scales. I guess us UQTs will have to wait and see 🤫
@H4nn4hWhit4ker Thank you Hannah. Wise words indeed! Absolutely, I know my end goal and I will get there. If anything the negativity shown over the weekend has made me even more determined. Next course applied for 😉
Ouch #eduTwitter does not make great reading today. Some highly emotive thoughts on unqualified teachers. As a career changer who is now an unqualified teacher, albeit working towards QTS. Which is a long hard road in my case. It’s hard to read some opinions 😞
@Noni_Rainbow Wow, that’s really interesting to know. Especially knowing where you are now. Inspiration amongst the doom and gloom I am reading. Thank you for sharing
@NEUnion@GillianKeegan Whilst I wholeheartedly support my fellow teachers striking. I feel the year 6 transition to secondary school day is a little unfair on the children. Especially those with additional needs who will struggle with the last minute change of plans.
@easyJetholidays Although no holiday memories yet. We are planning on making lots on our first holiday aboard traveling with @easyJetholidays this year with my partner and children (none of which use Twitter so can’t tag)
@tombennett71 Respecting your opinion and it may be the case in some instances. I find following school behaviour code, embedded routines and establishing high expectations means disruption free lessons for the majority. Routines and sweating the small stuff means the students follow suit
