An Abuja-based barber, identified as Abraham Immanuel, has reportedly sued the Nigeria Police Force and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bwari Division, demanding ₦1 billion in damages after losing one of his eyes to a tear gas canister.
According to reports, the incident happened during a police operation in Bwari, Abuja. Witnesses alleged that officers fired tear gas at close range during a night raid, and one of the canisters struck Abraham directly in the eye.
The injury reportedly led to permanent damage and the loss of the eye after medical treatment.
The victim is now seeking legal action against the Nigeria Police and the Bwari DPO, accusing them of excessive force and violation of his rights.
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for accountability and better policing methods during crowd control operations.
