Yes, Paul was Jewish and often went to the synagogue on Saturday to preach the Gospel to Jews who were there. But when believers gathered as the church, the pattern that emerges in the New Testament is the first day of the week.
I love the Sabbath principle rest and worship, but for Christians, the fulfillment and joy of that rest is found in Christ and the early disciples expressed that by gathering on Sunday, the day of His resurrection.
We meet on Sunday at my church to celebrate the risen Lord, just like those believers in Troas did almost 2,000 years ago. That’s a beautiful continuity of the faith.
Bc you call Sunday worship pagan. Paul said: On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.”Acts 20:7
For context, This is in Troas. The early Christians met on the first day of the week Sunday, shared a meal “break bread”, and Paul preached a long message because he was leaving the next day. The gathering went late into the night, leading to the incident with Eutychus falling asleep and out the window verses 8–12.
Bare assertion fallacy The core claim "Christianity is a trap"is stated as obvious fact with zero supporting evidence, reasoning, or examples. It simply declares it and moves on. This is not an argument it's just an unsupported assertion.
Red Herring, the original post makes a specific theological claim, people engaged in certain behavior on June 1st will face judgment unless they repent, and everyone will eventually bow before Jesus. The reply completely ignores that claim and pivots to an unrelated suggestion "become agnostic or atheist". It doesn't refute the repentance message, the sin judgment, or the biblical reference it changes the subject.
Poisoning the Well, a form of ad hominem by preemptively labeling Christianity a "trap," the comment tries to discredit the entire belief system and anyone promoting it before any discussion can happen.
Just want to say shoutout to the 3 Muslims that @InspiringPhilos , Belle, and I debated. Because of them, Muslims are leaving Islam and doubting their faith. This is just after a scroll or two in the comments, by the way. 🙏🙏🙏
Paul is writing to the Corinthian church he founded through preaching the gospel Acts 18. He’s using a metaphor of spiritual parenthood to express his deep affection and unique apostolic role “I became your father through the gospel.” He’s not establishing a new title for church leaders to wear. He’s contrasting himself with the “ten thousand guardians/tutors” basically babysitters or instructors) who came after him. Paul planted the church, others watered it. It’s about relational authority and fatherly care, not an office or honorific.
