part of living in the dc area is accepting that at some point you’re probably going to see the biggest and scariest military aircraft fly like 15 ft above you and you just have to go about your day like normal
A Washington DC photojournalist was run over and killed by a suspect fleeing from police near The White House.
26 year-old Aaron Marckell Williams of Southeast DC was struck while crossing in the crosswalk at 16th Street and L Street NW Wednesday afternoon.
It was later revealed that DC Police had attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect, 20 year-old Santana Matthews, before he ran a red light and killed Williams. Matthews has now been charged with Second Degree Murder.
Williams was a photojournalist for the Washington Informer and was heading to a nearby church to take photos for a story.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of Marckell Williams — a talented photographer, storyteller, and beautiful soul who was once part of the Washington Informer family,” the statement from @WashInformer reads. “His passion for capturing people, culture, and truth will never be forgotten.”
