Ubisoft CEO is today having an "invitation-only" meeting with the European Commission, hosted by VGE, 2 weeks before the EC planned answer to our ECI.
SKG was not invited.
Thus, we publish an Open Letter, that we invite everyone of you to read it and share it for visibility.
“But Sikh’s HAVE to carry a kirpan, it’s not negotiable…”
Go home then.
“But Muslim women have to cover their faces, it’s not negotiable…”
GO HOME THEN.
“But we have to slaughter animals in this cruel barbaric way, if we can’t…”
GO. HOME. THEN.
DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Domino’s UK just roasted the new God of War game, and Santa Monica Studio got mad and responded quickly.
Domino’s UK posted:
“God of War game with no Kratos = Pepperoni Passion with no pepperoni.”
It went viral and Santa Monica Studio got so mad:
“OK thanks for the feedback, Domino's pizza corporate account.”
When a pizza company makes fun of your game, you know something is wrong.
Today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot is reportedly attending a private meeting with European Commission officials in Brussels, hosted by Video Games Europe (VGE), the video game industry’s main lobbying organization. Stop Killing Games was not invited.
According to the Stop Killing Games campaign, the group was excluded despite being the consumer movement behind the European Citizens’ Initiative that brought game shutdowns and digital ownership to the attention of EU policymakers.
The issue is not that publishers meet with policymakers, which happens regularly. The concern is that industry representatives have direct access to decision-makers at a critical stage, while the campaign representing more than one million citizens is not in the room.
This is concerning, knowing that Ubisoft’s shutdown of The Crew helped start the Stop Killing Games movement.
I don't know what the VGE is doing, but they should include both the industry and the people affected by these decisions.

A new report has revealed a heated debate inside Valve over pornographic games on Steam.
According to former employees, Valve’s top lawyer suggested the company take a stronger role in moderating adult content on the platform.
Gabe Newell reportedly disagreed, saying, “What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?”
The quote comes from accounts shared by former employees and has not been publicly confirmed by Valve.
If this is true, Gabe Newell is even more based.
Excepto VALVe, nadie pensó a largo plazo.
A new Stop Killing Games open letter has been published ahead of the European Commission’s expected response to the initiative.
The letter argues that the debate has become sidetracked by claims about the campaign that do not reflect what it actually proposes:
-Stop Killing Games is not asking publishers to keep servers online forever.
-It is not demanding that companies release source code.
-It is not requiring every game to support private servers.
Instead, the initiative calls for publishers to ensure that games people have paid for are not simply unusable when official support ends, and that reasonable end-of-life plans are put in place.
The letter also points to California, where lawmakers are already debating possible solutions through proposed legislation.
It argues that Europe has spent more time discussing the issue, yet is still debating misunderstandings that supporters say have already been addressed.
The letter’s main message is simple:
>The problem has been identified.
>The proposal has been explained.
>It is time to focus on solutions.
The European Commission is expected to announce its next steps on 16 June.
The California State Assembly has passed the Protect Our Games Act, a bill to protect user rights after a game's service ends
Under this, games shutting down would need to provide at least 60 days notice to consumers, while also ensuring that purchasers will still have access to the game via an alt version or patch that allows it to be played offline. And if not, they must offer refunds
The bill must still be passed by the California Senate

The UK government is considering plans to stop children chatting with strangers on platforms like Roblox, Fortnite, Discord and Minecraft.
Ministers are concerned that gaming platforms and online communities can be used by predators, scammers and other bad actors to contact children.
If the plans go ahead, children could face restrictions on messaging, voice chats and other forms of communication with people they do not know.
The government is also looking at whether platforms should introduce stronger age checks and child safety measures.
The Japanese government may have agreed to the "Common Principles for the Protection of Minors," but we must not allow Japan to implement age verification systems like those being implemented in Western countries, which are unlikely to be effective in protecting children and will endanger the privacy of all people, including adults.
