Foreigner Joins Cambodian Artists to Paint the Pain of Border Aggression, Calling for Peace
PHNOM PENH – A foreign artist, Andy Novell, has joined Cambodian artists in the Art for Peace II initiative to express the pain endured by citizens due to the Thai invasion and to reaffirm Cambodia’s call for peace through art.
The 5-meter by 35-meter canvas officially began with a brushstroke ceremony on February 20 and is expected to be completed by March 3.
The finished artwork will be exhibited at Wat Botum Park until early May.
For Andy, who is from the United Kingdom and has been living in Siem Reap province for three years, this marks his second participation in Art for Peace. He previously contributed to the first edition held in Siem Reap.
He said he hopes the painting will remind the public that innocent displaced civilians remain in need at temporary shelters and that the memory of people fleeing during the border clashes should not fade. The artwork also seeks to reflect the destruction of civilian infrastructure and ancient temples in Cambodia caused by Thai military forces.
The painting will be divided into four sections: invasion and destruction; religious and cultural desecration; civilian suffering; and a call for justice and peace.

🚨 BREAKING: New Investigation Confirms "Thailand Broke International Law" 🇰🇭
For months, the world treated the border conflict as "mutual blame." Now, a major investigation by The New York Editorial reveals the hard truth: While Cambodia may have lit the match, Thailand burned down the neighborhood.
The report, backed by international data, exposes how a border dispute was turned into an illegal war to win an election in Bangkok.
Key findings that every Cambodian needs to know:
➡️Disproportionate Force: When a landmine injured one soldier, Thailand responded with F-16 fighter jets and airstrikes. The report calls this "wildly disproportionate."
➡️Illegal Weapons: The investigation confirms Thailand used cluster munitions—weapons banned by most of the world—which tragically took the life of 10-year-old Sern Sovann in Preah Vihear.
➡️Psychological Warfare: The report documents how Thai forces blasted "wailing ghost sounds" and funeral music at 3:00 AM into our villages to terrorize sleeping children.
➡️Political Games: The evidence suggests the Thai government used our border and our lives as a campaign strategy to win their election.
‼️The Hard Truth:
The report is fair—it does not let Cambodia off the hook. It highlights how the scam compounds and political decisions in Phnom Penh created the conditions for this crisis.
But the conclusion is clear: Creating a crisis is bad. Waging an illegal war against civilians is worse.
💔 As of today, nearly 98,000 of our people are still displaced.
