My life is crumbling around me.
I turn 18 next Monday, but at the same time I’m expected to have a second job by my birthday.
I’ve been applying everywhere, and even just got a second family to dog sit for, but it isn’t good enough for my parents.

Today would have been my sister Mercy's birthday.

Ten years since her disappearance, and we still have no idea what happened to her. What I do know is that life was never easy or "normal" for Mercy. It wasn't for any of us. And just a few weeks ago, I learned that another of my sisters, Mary, also passed away at an early age. After years of struggling with mental health issues, addiction, and homelessness.

Life can be incredibly cruel. Despite our best efforts, sometimes we simply cannot save the ones we love. But we can keep trying.

I'm reminded today to do exactly that. To keep raising awareness around difficult topics. To keep sharing stories and ideas and resources that bring light to places of darkness.

We all deserve mercy, compassion, and grace ❤️
