Let me go a level deeper:

Detachment is often approached as an exercise in not letting external outcomes affect you. But the deeper path is to loosen the sense of ego; the separate "self" that clings to outcomes in the first place and allow yourself to rest in what truly is.
As that attachment to the self dissolves, detachment from external outcomes follows naturally.

Ps The Gita isn't merely teaching you to become emotionally unaffected by outcomes. It is teaching you to transform the very identification with the "I" that claims ownership of action and attachment to its results.

This is the Christian route to dissolution: Buddhism begins with suffering, Hinduism with ignorance; Christianity begins with sin/guilt and moves through forgiveness toward love.
