THREE ARRESTED FOR SCAMMING TOURIST AT OR TAMBO:

Three suspects, aged between 37 and 48, have been arrested by the Ekurhuleni Metro Police at OR Tambo International Airport for attempting to scam a tourist.

The suspects posed as security officers and demanded payment from a tourist to use a restroom at the Engen Sky Stop.

They allegedly fled when police arrived but were quickly apprehended.

Officers seized two card scanning machines, two-way radios, security caps, a suspected fake name tag, fake vehicle registration plates and other items believed to have been used in the scam.

The Suzuki Ciaz allegedly used in the incident was also impounded.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges linked to impersonation, fraud and possession of suspected illegal equipment.
