Japan's Immigration Ministry used to call June:
"Month to Combat Illegal Foreign Workers"
with a huge sign in Shingawa station encouraging people to view alien workers with suspicion
It was too loud of a racist dog whistle
so they toned it down
added a mascot 😀

Listening to your children with enthusiasm and interest is a sure way to gain their respect
I've seen too many parents more concerned with their online social interactions than with their own children
Put the phones down and play with your kids

@TheRealJapan1 Japanese efficiency and cleanliness and attention to detail.
North America leaves a lot to be desired in those areas.
Also, I appreciate the level of Japanese service without expectations of tips.
I Have NOT Been ANGRY at my kids in over a week.
It's a big deal for me: tangible positive changes.
I have a few strategies for diffusing tough times, which I’ll get into here.
But first, to all the parents out there, I’ll take your compliments now.
Thank you.
To recap how I avoid getting angry at my kids:
・ cold showers for mental training
・ sharing feelings
・ a child’s perspective
・ recalling trauma from my own childhood
Not always easy to apply, but well worth the effort.
