I set this account up as my 68 year old dad has been sending daily poems to the family to cheer us up since we have been on lockdown! Let's share the love!
Summer in the city
Now not so gritty
Clean and pretty
Fox on Grafton Street
What a treat
Hard to beat
Liffey looking swell
No smell
Fish aswell
Tour's on O'Connell Street
No tourists to greet
Now obsolete
A walk in Temple Bar
No sound of guitar
So bizarre
#COVID19#Isolation
The lion is king
Big and strong
People sing
Word's of the song
Leo our leader
Calm and clear
No one better
To curb our fear
Leo, the man
Soft and strong
With a plan
Guiding us along
Now there is light
A big Thank You
Ireland recite
To Leo and crew
Go raibh maith agat
Thank you to Alice, aged 13 for sending me a poem she has written about #Covid19. Wish I was as good at writing at 13 as she is - or indeed at any age! Keep well Alice 😀
Tulip's around
All abound
Spring is here
Air is clear
Bird's are singing
Nature winning
Rustle in the tree's
Light breeze
Walk in the park
Song of the lark
Rivers flowing fast and clear
Kingfisher fly above the weir
World blooming
Life resuming
Something strange
Maybe a change
Getting old is not so bad
Lovely memories to be had
Day trips to Brady
Dart all the way
Fish and chips on the beach
Keep the seagulls out of reach
A walk along the promenade
A lovely day can be had
Alas those days are no more
Everyday a bloody bore
Not a soul on the street
A friend to greet
Sun high in the sky
nobody call's hi
Silence all around
No friend to be found
No shake of the hand
Saying 'weather is grand'
It's the Irish way, to welcome the day

This is no longer funny
The country is in a state
We have run out of money
Creditors at the gate
Another bailout on the way
Banks shedding crocodile tears
Smiles gone away
Everybody in arrears
When the banks come to call
Don't let them linger
When the tears start to fall
They enter with no fear
Their mind so clear
Ready for the test
They give off their best
Among all the tears
They quell our fears
With a smile on their face
Visit the first case
This is above brave
A life to save
Say a prayer
For the people who care
Doctors and nurses
On an evening like this
Do I really exist
No friends around
All house bound.
Beyond that door is everything I long for
Family I miss
Grandkids for hug and a kiss.
Daughter for dinner, always a winner
Son in law hums 'you will never walk alone'
Grandparents are the best
Like a warm soft vest
A woolly rug
A bear hug
Best Advice
Kind and nice
Sloppy kiss
Things I miss
Over these dark days
We must change our ways
Visits at the gate
Not so great
We need to be near
To allay our fear
We don't like to hide
