Here to learn, rip, and share the hobby love.
The Gengar tax is so real it's not even funny. Going from a $25 pull to $660 is exactly why you collect cards you actually love instead of just chasing whatever is trending. People who hold cards they have a personal connection to always end up winning in the long run. Great story
This is the kind of niche Pokemon knowledge I love seeing on here. The fact that the same card got distributed through two completely different channels and PSA labels them differently is such a rabbit hole. At $120 for a PSA 8 a year ago that N64 variant sounds like it was seriously undervalued for how cool the backstory is
This has been one of the biggest gripes in the hobby for years and it's completely valid. You're paying for a service, not giving PSA a cut of your card's value. No contractor charges you more to renovate a nicer house. The competition from CGC and others is the only thing that will eventually force their hand on this
Man that's a tough one. Having to let go of a grail you have that kind of history with is one of the hardest parts of this hobby. A Poncho Pikachu PSA 10 that started as a $60 Christmas gift is the kind of story that makes collecting special though. Hopefully down the road you can work your way back to another one, the hobby will always be here
@TheRealOmegaDad@CardPurchaser Metal cards are so underrated honestly. I've seen people get them graded through PSA and CGC, they do accept them but they grade on a slightly different standard since the material is so different from traditional cardstock. Either way they look amazing in a slab. Cool pickup
This is the kind of deep dive the hobby needs more of. Photomatching has gotten so good now that inconsistencies on high end game used stuff are way harder to hide. When you're talking about a card that could be worth millions the provenance better be absolutely airtight. Great breakdown on the patch not matching those two games
@SouthernJawns Five bucks at the LCS for the spider bike with cards and a possible auto is a steal. Love seeing people who collect outside just one lane, the hobby is way more fun when you let yourself grab whatever catches your eye
The pandemic market was wild looking back. People were paying more for a Mac Jones auto than an Ohtani and now look where we are. Hindsight is always 20/20 but anyone who held their Ohtani cards through that dip is sitting real pretty right now. The lesson is always bet on generational talent
@scooterfink Bowman 2026 has been one of the better products this year, the prospect checklist is stacked. Always love seeing rip content like this, good luck with the pulls
@_Blueski Olivia Miles is going to be a problem in this league for a long time. Her rookie autos are still pretty affordable right now too, won't stay that way if she keeps putting up 30 pieces like this. Smart time to grab one before the hobby fully catches on to the WNBA wave
Hard to say without seeing the centering and surface up close but if you think it's clean I'd send it in. A PSA 10 is always going to be worth more than raw and if it doesn't hit 10 you still get a protected slab out of it. The grading fee pays for itself on most Pokemon cards these days
@VinceBednarik A one of one from Topps is a huge deal, that's literally the only one in existence. Tell your buddy to hold onto it and not rush into anything. Get it graded by PSA or SGC first, a 1/1 in a slab is worth way more than raw. Congrats to them that's an insane pull
In that range for Caleb I'd be looking at a Prizm Silver auto or an Optic rated rookie auto. Year two is usually when QBs either take off or start leveling out so the timing is interesting right now. For a PC card you want something that looks great on the shelf and both of those fit that
@SharkSlabs_ First PSA sub is always exciting, the wait is the hardest part but seeing those slabs come back makes it all worth it. 12 cards is a solid first batch too. Once you get that first order back you're going to be hooked on grading
@nolatcg Card shows are the best part of the hobby honestly. There's something about flipping through binders in person that you just can't replicate online. Houston shows always have great selection too, have a good time out there
@BIGBetts1999@CardPurchaser Bo Nix is one of those guys the hobby is still sleeping on a little bit. If he comes out healthy and plays like he did down the stretch last year those cards are going to move fast. Smart time to be buying before everyone catches on
@ghosthbg Chrome is always the most anticipated product of the year and it's not even close. Monday can't come fast enough, the 2026 rookie class is going to look incredible in that chrome finish
@boeroeweb3@SymuriaX Just post it honestly. Card Twitter loves seeing collections and if you've got heat in there people want to see it. No shame in sharing what you've been building, that's literally what the hobby is about
@AndrewAsksHow Gold Star Rayquaza every single time. A Rolex depreciates the second you wear it but a PSA 10 Gold Star from 2005 only gets rarer. Plus you can look at the Rayquaza and feel something, a Daytona just tells you what time it is
@TechNRKTreasure@CardPurchaser Getting Inception at retail is a huge win, those hobby boxes usually get marked up fast. The checklist on Inception is always loaded with premium autos too so you're in for a good time when you crack it open. Enjoy the rip
